The Via Alpina traverses Switzerland from Engelberg in the east to Kandersteg in the West, which covers 118.5kms of mountain and valley over 6 days, with a cumulative height gain of 7680m.
We have chosen the most spectacular section to take you through the Swiss Alps. This trek promises breath-taking views throughout and a level of variety that's hard to beat. Watch the landscape unfold as one massive mountain after another comes into view - from Titlis, Eiger, Schwarzhorn, Wetterhorn, Mönch and Jungfrau, to other peaks of both the Bernese Oberland.
The towns and villages en route are, for the most part, steeped in history and brimming with charm. Grindelwald is renowned for its rich history in alpinism, attracting crowds since the early 1900s to watch climbers tackle the North Face of the Eiger. There's also 14th century frescoes, 15th century paintings, alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the possibility of seeing both marmots and waterfowl.
