Our week in Tuscany allows you to explore the beautiful, unspoilt and unexpected Garfagnana region, one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. Nestled between the marble mountains of the Apuane Alps and the sweeping, dramatic limestone of the Apennines, the Serchio Valley is home to the traditional way of life of olive growers, chestnut farmers and mountain shepherds.
From our comfortable agriturismo (organic farmhouse) overlooking the valley, we will explore the surrounding Tuscan hills and mountains on established walking trails.
During our hikes we will pass vineyards and olive groves, terracotta villas and stone hamlets. We'll follow well-worn shepherds' trails and mule tracks to high mountain pastures, and climb higher to reach ridges and summits where we will be rewarded with outstanding far-reaching views.
Back at the farmhouse you can relax by the pool in the warm evenings, and later on enjoy a little apperitivo followed by delicious Tuscan cuisine on the terrace, prepared by our hosts with produce from their organic farm.
